The “Climate and Sustainability” Programme covers and combines a wide range of research fields that have to do with the challenges arising from the acceleration of climate change, the degradation of the natural environment, the need for sustainable development, and the resilience to crises. These issues are treated as horizontal, affecting all areas of human activity, from agriculture, economy, trade, and transport to foreign policy and security. The Programme aims at the interdisciplinary analysis of the opportunities and risks of green development, the critical overview of climate and environmental policies, their socio-economic repercussions, and their geopolitical consequences at the international, European, national, and local levels. The Programme’s main purpose is to integrate climate targets and the Sustainable Development Goals into the public policies and highlight actions that will result in a sustainable future. The Programme collaborates with the Foundation for Global Governance and Sustainability (FOGGS) and the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy (NKUA).
