The great global challenges of recent years, from climate change & environmental pollution to pandemics & economic crises, have made it clear that the well-being of nations & people requires a new approach, beyond the age-old preoccupation with diplomacy & security. Sustainable development has become a central frame of reference for issues related to the environment, the economy & society. International initiatives such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the European Green Deal are contractual obligations of Greece but at the same time touch on real issues that need to be addressed. ELIAMEP expands its activities in this direction with research work, events and publications, identification of good practices from Greece & abroad and cooperation with all relevant stakeholders in the public & private sector, as well as civil society. Central to this effort is the Hellenic Forum for Sustainable Development (ELFOVA), a joint initiative of ELIAMEP and the Brussels-based Foundation for Global Governance and Sustainability (FOGGS), in collaboration with the Institute of European Integration & Policy (IEIP) of the University of Athens.
