Ion Vallianos was born in 1994, in Athens. He graduated from the American Community Schools of Athens through the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) program and went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom where he studied History and Politics (BA Hons). His next academic stepping stone was to pursue his master’s at the University of Amsterdam where he studied international relations with an emphasis on the European Union (MSc European Union in a Global Order). Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His doctoral research explores the external aspect of European Union policies. Specifically, it focuses on the external implications and the sustainability of the Common Fisheries Policy. His research falls under the UNESCO Chair for Climate Diplomacy. Since February 2021, he is a Junior Research Fellow at the Institute of European Integration and Policy, where he is involved in research and educational programs.
