ELIAMEP is an independent research and training institute. ELIAMEP’s commitment to institutional independence is rooted in the individual independence and integrity of its researchers. The integrity and objectivity of researchers and their research constitute the Foundation’s principal assets.
ELIAMEP respects and protects objectivity of researchers and academic freedom, provides a workplace that is supportive and inclusive, protects copyright and intellectual property rights and research data and finally, helps researchers amplify the impact of their research and policy recommendations.
ELIAMEP works as a forum for public debate and as a center of production and of the circulation of ideas. ELIAMEP’s institutional policy prohibits research misconduct, such as intentional misrepresentation in performing research or in reporting research results, plagiarism and taking credit for others’ achievement, or failure to comply with requirements for the biological and spiritual integrity of man; human dignity, ethnicity, race, ethnic origin, language, sex, religious beliefs, private life, physical ability or sociopolitical status.
In this context, ELIAMEP has set up a Research Ethics Committee, responsible for safeguarding the implementation of ELIAMEP’s guide on research ethics, as well as auditing, evaluating and advising the legal and ethical aspects of research. Additionally, Researchers respect the legislation about data protection and collaborate with ELIAMEP’s Data Protection Officer. Researchers request the written consent and advice of the Committee during the year and plan their research accordingly, doing so to ensure the confidentiality of information and assess the effects that any voluntary or involuntary disclosure of personal data might have on the participants.
ELIAMEP asks of its researchers to act in a way that is in line with the requirements of the legislation enforcing the protection of intellectual property and inventions protected by a patent.
ELIAMEP promotes research findings and independent information, analysis and policy proposals, contributing to public dialogue. All research activities, which are being implemented at ELIAMEP, must be beneficial to the participants and/or the society as a whole.
ELIAMEP believes in promoting collaborative efforts to advance the public good through working with other think tanks, foundations, universities, and the private sector, as well as government officials.
ELIAMEP promotes full transparency regarding its funding sources, as well as the terms of collaboration with its public and private funders.
