The Defence Hub of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), in cooperation with the Delphi Economic Forum, is organising the Athens Defence Conference, which will take place on 29 & 30 June 2026 at the King George Hotel in Athens.
The Athens Defence Conference 2026 aspires to become a leading forum for dialogue on developments in national, regional and European security. The conference will bring together government officials and senior public servants, members of the Armed Forces and the Diplomatic Corps in Greece, academics and experts in geopolitics and international relations, as well as representatives of the defence industry.
During the conference, discussions will focus on the most pressing challenges which Greece, the Eastern Mediterranean region and Europe face. Key topics to be addressed include:
- The role of the Greek and European defence industry as drivers of economic growth and strategic autonomy,
- The added value of Greece’s ports and infrastructure for the Eastern Mediterranean,
- The modernisation of Greece’s defence procurement programmes and the future of the Greek defence industry,
- Greece’s contribution to deepening the European defence cooperation,
- Financing the European defence industry,
- The NATO Summit in Ankara and the future of the Alliance,
- Russia’s war against Ukraine, and
- Emerging technologies and their impact on the modern battlefield.
