Sophia Clément Mavroudis
Senior Research Fellow on DefenceDr Sophia Clément Mavroudis holds a PhD in International relations from the Institute of Political Science (SciencePo) in Paris. She holds a BA from Paris II-Assas in Political Science, graduated from SciencePo Paris (master’s degrees in international relations, and East Soviet Studies). She specializes on European Defence, Transatlantic relations, Geopolitics and crisis management.
For years, she taught at the École de guerre of the École Militaire in Paris, at the Institute of Political Science in Paris as well as in European and American universities. She has been a permanent researcher at the EUISS Institute in Paris, a member of high-level research groups in European and American Think tanks, Research centres and Foundations, and has published extensively.
In parallel, for many years, she worked at the Delegation for Strategic Affairs (ancient DAS, current DGRIS) at the French Ministry of Defence on European defence, Transatlantic issues and NATO-EU.
She is a native speaker in both French and Greek, speaks fluently Spanish and Italian and average Russian, and has an understanding of German.
