Dr. Apostolos Samaras participated in the 6th Conference on Cultural and Creative Industries, which took place in Patras between 6 and 7 December 2024, as part of the panel on “Music and Audiovisual Industries”.

His presentation, titled “Competitiveness” and “cultural diversity” in EU policies for the audiovisual sector, highlighted:

  • The evolving relationship between competitiveness and cultural diversity on the policies adopted and promoted by the EU for the film and audiovisual industries.
  • Key challenges posed by digital platforms and technological advancements.
  • EU policies balancing economic and cultural priorities in the audiovisual sector.

The presentation was based on the findings of the report titled “Competitiveness in European Law” [authors: Evangelia Psychogiopoulou, Apostolos Samaras, Laia Comerma (ELIAMEP), Antonios Vlassis, Dealan Riga (University of Liège)] conducted in the framework of the REBOOT project which aims to strengthen the European film industry.
