In ELIAMEP’s Working Paper no 12 the author, Thanos Dokos, ELIAMEP’s General Director and Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Turkish and Contemporary Asian Studies of the University of Athens, notes that sixty-three years after its official birth and 17 years after the Oslo Peace Settlement the Palestinian problem continues to torment the Middle East. What and who’s to blame for the failure of the peace efforts until now? There are multiple explanations and none of them is absolutely satisfactory. Some, even, lead to utterly pessimistic conclusions for the future.
