Yannis T. Diamantis, head of the TO VIMA | TA NEA Historical Archive, is joined by Dr Triantafyllos Karatrantos, who holds a Ph.D. in European Security and New Threats and is a Research Associate at ELIAMEP, for a discussion on the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and its broader historical context.
Together, they analyze the late phase of the Soviet Union, the handling of the crisis and the delay in making information on the accident public, international reactions, and the impact on Greece—from the panic over food safety to a deep crisis of trust in institutions.
