DEMOS: Blog post of Dimitri Sotiropoulos on the populist policy conundrum

Professor Dimitri Sotiropoulos, Senior Research Fellow of  ELIAMEP, wrote a blog post regarding the first results of the programme DEMOS (Democratic Efficacy and the Varieties of Populism in Europe).

As the DEMOS co-investigator mentions in his post: “Even if populists claim to authentically represent the people, in practice, once in government, they implement strategies supporting only very selective population categories and groups”.

The DEMOS research project will study how populists govern and test hypotheses on the content and directions of populist governance.
