Vice-President for Democracy and Demography at the European Commission, Dubravka Šuica, discussed with the Democratic Odyssey project community on the topic of “A Peoples’ Assembly for Europe” on Wednesday 29th of November at Brussels. She presented the outcomes of the Conference on the Future of Europe, the next generation of citizen panels (ECPs), and the potential citizen participation in EU policymaking including the European Parliament’s and Commissions’ proposed Citizen Agoras.

The Hellenic Foundation For European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), the European University Institute – School of Transnational Governance, Particip’Action, European Alternatives, DemNext, Mehr Demokratie, and the Democracy and Culture Foundation are part of the Democratic Odyssey Project.

Τhe main objective of the project is to create a standing European People’s Assembly that will become a core part of the institutional landscape of the European Union, made of citizens selected by lot, serving on a rotating basis. It will debate topics of its own choosing as well as those suggested by the EU institutions and civil society and become visible and popular by meeting all around the continent.
