Dr. Isabelle Ioannides, Senior Research Fellow at the South-East Europe Programme of ELIAMEP, participated in an Atlantic Council podcast focusing on the European Union’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which aims to accelerate economic development and regional cooperation.
In this episode of the #BalkansDebrief series, Ilva Tare spoke with Isabelle Ioannides, Valbona Zeneli, and Richard Grieveson about whether the Growth Plan can restore trust in the EU’s commitment to enlargement, or whether political deadlock, limited funding, and institutional challenges will stand in the way.
The guests also discussed the role that private sector investment and regional cooperation can play in enhancing the Plan’s impact, as well as how the EU can ensure stronger rule of law and accountability as part of the process.
