Panos Politis Lamprou, Junior Research Fellow, delivered a speech during an online conversation about conscription in Europe, organised by MeetEU, a civil society organisation based in Strasbourg, France. After explaining what conscription is and why it is relevant nowadays, he highlighted that defence remains at the core of national sovereignty, thus conscription continues to be examined through national lens. Nonetheless, he underlined the need to foster preparedness, as part of a wider European total defence concept.
