ELIAMEP welcomes guests from the University of Pretoria, South Africa

Director General, Elena Lazarou, met with Professor Christopher Isike and Anthony Bizos to advance the objectives of the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding signed on 16 April 2024.

During the meeting, the counterparts identified Ocean Governance, Maritime Security, the Future of the UN and the role of middle powers as areas of common research interest. They also discussed the need to enhance research, public debate and a general understanding of South Africa, and the African continent more widely, in Greece. As part of the MoU, the two institutions have agreed to explore academic exchanges, joint publications, research projects and potential co-organisation of panels and conferences as appropriate.
