Geopolitical Union of Security

Dr. Triantafyllos Karatrantos analyses, on the occasion of the Munich Security Conference, the vision of a “Geopolitical Europe” and the European Union’s transition from primarily a normative power to a more autonomous and strategically active global actor. He focuses on the debate initiated by Emmanuel Macron in Munich on strategic autonomy, the challenges arising from the weakening of multilateralism, and the need for the EU to strengthen its security and defence capabilities at a time when the transatlantic bond is under strain.
