Dr Triantafyllos Karatrantos looks at how the Greenland issue could lead to an unprecedented crisis in transatlantic relations, with serious consequences for the EU, NATO, and the cohesion of the West. He stresses that any European retreat before the United States would undermine Europe’s role as a global actor, whereas a European response could trigger a deep crisis within transatlantic institutions, while simultaneously preparing the way for the strengthening of revisionist powers such as Russia and China.
