The project “Cohesion for European Citizens” (“Co-Europe”), co-funded by the European Commission’s Action “Support for information measures relating to the EU Cohesion policy for 2022 (IMREG-2022-INFOME)” and implemented by ANA/MPA, aims to create an innovative, integrated, and multi-faceted platform for information and citizen participation on EU Cohesion Policy issues, in order to highlight the results of the Policy, to discuss its future directions, and to give citizens a public platform for all relevant issues.
In the framework of the project, ELIAMEP has undertaken the preparation of a study on the implementation of the EU Cohesion Policy in Greece, focusing on regional policy, the imbalances between and within regions and the directions the Policy should take in order to address these imbalances, and the provision of scientific support on the results of the EU Cohesion Policy.
The aim of the proposed study is to assess the added value of the Cohesion Policy in the five least developed regions of Greece based on the latest available data – with reference to GDP per capita in Purchasing Power Standards for the year 2021 – during the programming period 2014-2020. Specifically, the aim is to identify and evaluate the impacts of the Operational Programmes “ROP North Aegean 2014-2020”, “ROP East Macedonia-Thrace 2014-2020”, “ROP Epirus 2014-2020”, “ROP Western Greece 2014-2020” and “ROP Thessaly 2014-2020” in terms of: (a) the economic performance of the regions under review; (b) the content of the regional policy pursued in each case; and (c) the performance of regional and local institutions in terms of governance.
