The AI4GR project aims to study the economic effects of AI innovations in Greece and the European Union. Despite the increasing diffusion of AI technologies, their macroeconomic and labor market effects remain largely unexplored due to a lack of reliable data.

Key Objectives

  1. Develop a novel AI innovation index using textual analysis of patent data from the European Patent Office (EPO).
  2. Link AI patents to specific industries to understand how AI technologies are diffusing across sectors.
  3. Estimate the impact of AI technologies on macroeconomic variables and labor market outcomes in Greece and the EU using Panel VAR and dynamic econometric models.
  4. Examine how AI technology diffusion from EU core economies to periphery ones affects economic growth.
