ELIAMEP is looking for a Researcher to take a leading role in the ELIAMEP migration research team in cooperation with Prof. Anna Triandafyllidou, currently head of this team.
The appointment is full time or almost full time and requires a regular presence at the office.
The successful candidate should be prepared to start on 1 October 2012. The appointment will be for a six-month probation period initially, renewable then for a year.
Qualifications required
• PhD in a related field of study (sociology, politics, social policy or history) is required.
• Experience of working in international research projects and/or supervising younger researchers is an asset. A strong publications record.
• Fluency in Greek and English, other languages an asset.
• Full literacy of standard software packages and internet.
• Experience in fund-raising very important
• Experience in project management will be appreciated.
Tasks:
• Supervising more junior researchers and conducting empirical research (not only collection of secondary data or bibliographical resources but also conducting interviews or focus groups).
• Writing scholarly publications/academic reports as well as policy papers/notes.
• Networking with the media and other stakeholders (including migrant organizations, civil society actors) – presenting the results of ELIAMEP research on migration, intervening in the public debate, promoting ELIAMEP’s migration team’s work through the internet.
• Project management tasks (book keeping of project accounts, organisation of project meetings and events, website update, etc).
The successful candidate will have a strong publications track record, will be an outgoing person, with management and leadership skills, able to work in a team and bring out the best from each of her/his younger collaborators.
