Marina Nikolova is a Research Associate at ELIAMEP.
She holds a PhD in Refugee and Migration Studies from the Department of Social and Educational Policy at the University of the Peloponnese. She graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Media Communications at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2004, and obtained a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Athens) in 2006.
Since 2007, she has been affiliated with ELIAMEP, conducting research and policy analysis on different aspects of migration at both the EU and national levels. Some of the projects she contributed to include: EMBRACE-Empowering Business Communities to Prevent Labour Trafficking (2025-2027 ongoing), MIrreM Measuring irregular migration and related policies (2022-2025), MIPEX-Integration policies: Who benefits? The development and use of indicators in integration debates (2013-2015), IRMA – Governing Irregular Migration: States, Actors and Intermediaries (2012-2015). She served as National Coordinator for the European Website on Integration, coordinated by the Migration Policy Group (MPG) in Brussels, supporting policy dialogue, knowledge dissemination, and stakeholder engagement across Member States.
Marina also worked at AMKE Melissa Network for Migrant Women in Greece (2019–2021), providing research, strategic support, and reporting for programs promoting migrant women’s empowerment and social inclusion.
Her research and policy interests include migrants’ integration, mixed-methods research, gender-responsive policies, wellbeing, relational approaches to social policy, and feminist perspectives.
