On the occasion of the Greek Prime Minister’s recent visits to Tirana and Albania’s Greek minority areas, Ioannis Paparizos writes in Liberal about the course of Greek-Albanian relations and the prospects of their improving. As he points out, progress is being made in the countries’ bilateral relations, but there is still a lot of room for further improvement and a need for Greece and Albania both to cooperate at every level and to demonstrate the requisite political will.

In addition, he emphasizes that it is in Greece’s direct interest for its neighbour to join the EU, and that Athens should support this effort in every way it can, which included making any criticism constructive.
