In a commentary for Carnegie Europe, Dr Elena Lazarou notes that space security is a critical issue for Europe in 2026. While the EU recognizes the associated risks, its preparation is progressing slowly. The gradual pace of the EU’s strategic shift toward space autonomy carries with it the risk of Europe being left strategically “blind” in the event of a crisis, even as early as this year.
