The Prespa Agreement “was a compromise which allowed bilateral relations to move forward and marked a second important step after the New York Interim Agreement. For Greece, the compromise reflected in the Prespa Agreement removed an issue from its agenda, allowing a precious diplomatic asset to be saved, which is particularly important, given the problems we currently face in Greek-Turkish relations. However, the implementation of the Prespa Agreement and the exploitation of the existing opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations will not happen automatically. Whether the Agreement proves a success or not will depend on the political will of the two governments that signed it”.
