The housing problem has developed into one of the most pressing social crises in Europe and, by now, in Greece as well. What went wrong, why housing is becoming increasingly unaffordable, and which policies can genuinely provide solutions? In today’s podcast, we talk with Thomas Maloutas, Researcher Emeritus at the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE) and Professor Emeritus at Harokopio University of Athens and Dimitra Siatitsa, PhD in Urban Planning, Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Centre for Social Research / National Technical University of Athens. They are the authors of the Policy Brief on the housing issue in the European Union and Greece. Together, we aim to understand the structural causes of the crisis, the specific features of the Greek case, and the policies that could make housing affordable.
