A World in Pieces

In the light of the Munich Security Conference, Ino Afentouli looks at why developing its own autonomous defence is a life-or-death issue for Europe. She goes on to note that the ongoing discussion has brought another existential question back to the surface: what are the limits of Europe? We can expect initiatives in the months and years ahead that will bring a multi-speed Europe into being, with Ukraine moving toward integration and growing pressure on the bloc to enter into a strategic relationship with Turkey.
