
Melis Cankara
Post-doctoral Research Fellow, HOMEACROSS project (2021 - 2023) meliscankara@gmail.comMelis Cankara is an architect and architectural historian. She has worked as a post-doctoral researcher of the ERC Starting Grant HOMEACROSS at ELIAMEP during 2021 – 2023. Between 2019-2021 she worked also as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS-FORTH) in Rethymno. She has previously held an Alexander S. Onassis fellowship for her post-doc research at the University of Crete, Department of History and Archeology in 2019.
After completing her doctoral studies in 2016 she joined SALT Research as a senior archivist (2016-2019). Melis also worked as a part-time instructor at the Faculty of Architecture of Ozyegin University (2015-2017). Her research interests are the population exchange between Greece & Turkey, Crete, spatial continuity, and 20th century architecture & design archives in Turkey. She speaks Turkish, English and Greek.
