Irene Keremidou serves as Project Manager and Research Associate at ELIAMEP. She has extensive experience in the preparation, submission and management of EU projects focused on legal and ethical issues surrounding technology, particularly IT law, AI, and data protection. She has significant experience handling EU legal frameworks, data privacy, cybersecurity, and ethical concerns, especially in emergency response contexts.  Irene actively collaborates with industry, policymakers, and academia to shape responsible policies.

She is also a researcher at the Center for Security Studies (KEMEA), working in counter-terrorism, radicalization, and organized crime. She has co-authored technical documentation on best practices for addressing threats like suicide bombers, active shooters, and suspect mail. She has contributed to security plans and organized simulation exercises and training programs for first responders in counter-terrorism and cybersecurity.

Previously, Irene coordinated over thirty EU projects at the Institute of Information Technology of the Hellenic Centre for Research and Technological Development (CERTH), Ministry of Development and served as a scientific advisor at the Office of the Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks and at the Office for EU Projects and International Relations of the Region of Western Macedonia and Thrace.

She holds a degree from Democritus University (Department of  Black Sea Studies) and a postgraduate degree in International and European Economic Studies from the Athens University of Economics and Business. She is currently furthering her legal education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Irene speaks Greek, English, Russian, and Turkish.
