On Tuesday, 4 June 2025, the Hellenic Foundation for European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) had the pleasure of welcoming the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Mr. Igli Hasani, for an in-depth exchange with high-level participants, in the framework of the initiative think nea – New Narratives of EU Integration, supported by the Open Society Foundations Western Balkans.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a timely and substantive discussion on the future of EU enlargement, Albania’s European path, and the broader dynamics shaping the region’s relationship with the European Union. Minister Hasani presented Albania’s progress toward EU accession, emphasising the country’s strong reform commitment, not only as a means to meet EU standards, but as an essential process for the benefit of Albanian society itself.

He characterised European integration as a unifying strategic objective for Albania while underlining the depth of public and political support for the process. Minister Hasani also reaffirmed Albania’s determination to close accession negotiations by 2027, with the goal of achieving full EU membership by the end of the decade. “We are at our historic best in this journey,” he noted, highlighting the country’s momentum in aligning with European norms and values.
