Loukas Tsoukalis at the Conference of the Circle of Ideas for the National Reconstruction

In his discussion with journalist Niki Lymperaki, the President of ELIAMEP, Loukas Tsoukalis, spoke of global upheavals rather than mere fluidity. He outlined a rift in transatlantic relations; a vulnerable Europe seeking strategic autonomy—likely based on coalitions of the willing; a strategic alliance with Israel that is becoming toxic; and an international rule of law that is being replaced by the law of the jungle.

Meanwhile, our own broad cross-party consensus on core foreign policy choices continues to draw on a bidding war of verbal patriotism. We need realism and greater honesty to safeguard the country in an era of major upheavals.
