Οn February 9th 2012 a conference on “The development of European Identities: Policy and Research Issues” took place. This conference addressed this extremely timely question for Europe, especially in the current context of financial, economic and social crises. It brought together EU-funded research projects from FP6 and FP7 in the field of European identity/identities to discuss two main issues:
- Whether there is a common European identity or several diverging European identities emerging, and what shape(s) it/they take(s)?
- What (policy and research) implications the development of a European identity/European identities have for the European Union?
Findings from the case studies of the IME research project were presented in this conference. To read more about the national case studies and the comparative findings click here. For more information about the conference see the programme here.
