Representing the GEMS project, Bledar Feta participated in the 2025 training of the European Observatory of Online Hate (EOOH) in Madrid, an important European gathering that brought together practitioners, policymakers, civil society actors, and law-enforcement authorities from across the continent. The training focused on emerging technological solutions, including AI‑powered dashboards and monitoring tools designed to counter online hate and harmful content.

GEMS’ participation held particular significance, as both GEMS and EOOH develop tools aimed at the same end users, frontline practitioners and police authorities. The event created a valuable space for networking, knowledge exchange, and cross‑regional learning, enabling participants to discuss challenges and solutions related to the evolving online hate-speech landscape. During the sessions and practical exercises, Bledar Feta presented key findings from the GEMS project, sharing insights from the empirical research and highlighting the Watchtower Tool, developed within GEMS to support the early detection of harmful content in online gaming environments.

The training underscored the importance of visibility, cooperation, and complementarity among technological initiatives working to support those on the front lines of online harm mitigation. By engaging directly with the EOOH team and fellow participants, GEMS strengthened pathways for future collaboration, demonstrating how shared expertise and interoperable tools can enhance Europe’s collective capacity to detect, report, and address online hate.
