ELIAMEP participated as a Content Partner in the Cyprus Forum 2025, the island’s largest conference on local government and public policy, which took place in Nicosia on 1–3 October. The Forum brought together political leaders from Cyprus and abroad, prominent figures from the public and private sector, as well as representatives from the media, academia, and civil society to discuss and explore key challenges for Cyprus, Europe, and the broader region.

Dr. Elena Lazarou, ELIAMEP Director General, and Cleopatra Kitti, ELIAMEP’s Senior Policy Advisor participated actively in the Forum’s proceedings,with Dr Lazarou moderating the session on the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, which is due to begin in January 2026 —under which a broader set of initiatives and activities of ELIAMEP is to be undertaken, with the aim of fostering dialogue and collaboration on European and regional issues.

The event featured contributions from Eleftheria Aristotelous, Deputy Head of the Programme and Policy Division at the Secretariat of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026, and Cleopatra Kitti, Certified Independent Director, Advisor to international organizations and governments, Founder of The Mediterranean Growth Initiative (MGI), Cleopatra Kitti Limited, and Senior Policy Advisor at ELIAMEP. The discussion addressed the challenges and opportunities for Cyprus in assuming the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU as of January 2026. It focused on topics ranging from housing and water security to defence and competitiveness, as well as regional issues.
