“Contemporary violence no longer requires an ideological foundation”

Dr. Triantafyllos Karatrantos speaks about a contemporary form of violence that is no longer driven by grand ideological narratives, but rather by the frustration, anger, and disappointment of citizens who define themselves primarily in opposition to elites, the establishment, or the system. According to his perspective, this heterogeneous and largely emotion-driven attitude is motivated more by reaction than by coherent political beliefs, making individuals more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and extremist narratives.
