In November 2025, representing the GEMS project, Ioanna Giakoumopoulou participated in the 2025 training of the European Observatory of Online Hate (EOOH) in Antwerp. The training series by EOOH brings together practitioners, policymakers, civil society, and law enforcement from across Europe to focus on innovative technological solutions, including AI-driven tools to monitor and counter online hate.
During the sessions, Ioanna Giakoumopoulou shared key insights from the GEMS project, presenting research findings from the ethnographic fieldwork of the project, as well as the Watchtower Tool, developed to support early detection of harmful content in online gaming environments. The event offered a valuable platform for exchange and collaboration, strengthening connections with stakeholders working to address online hate.
