Cleopatra Kitti said Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Paphos reflected Europe’s determination to make its presence felt in the region at a time of heightened uncertainty. With the U.S.-led offensive entering its tenth day, the visit highlighted the growing importance of European engagement in the Eastern Mediterranean. By holding talks with Nikos Christodoulides and other regional leaders, Macron signalled that the European Union sees the security of Cyprus not only as a national issue but increasingly as a collective European responsibility.
