Dr Evangelia Psychogiopoulou, senior research fellow at ELIAMEP, and her colleague, Federica Casarosa, researcher at the Centre for Judicial Cooperation, European University Institute, participated in the workshop Digitalization, Ethics and EU Fundamental Rights, which took place in Maastricht on 9-10 January 2020.

Their presentation entitled ‘Social media and the jurisprudence of national higher courts: What place for fundamental rights?’ focused on the social media-related jurisprudence of higher courts in a selected set of EU Member States (Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Slovenia and Slovakia), with emphasis on cases concerning freedom of expression. Research for the purposes of this presentation was carried out in the framework of the Horizon 2020 COMPACT project. The seminar was organized by Maastricht University (Maastricht Centre for European Law και European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity).
