Dr Triantafyllos Karatrantos, ELIAMEP Research Associate, has been elected Chair of the Research Committee of the EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation. His election, which took place at the Hub’s 5th meeting, held on 11 February in Brussels, serves as a significant acknowledgement of his academic and policy-oriented contributions in the sphere of European security and Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE). In his new role, which is for one year, he will be coordinating research in support of the Committee’s strategic orientations.
His appointment comes at a time when European efforts are being stepped up in the field of P/CVE, with a strong focus on evidence-based policymaking, closer links between research and practice, and the integration of online innovative tools and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. In his new role, Dr Karatrantos is expected to further enhance the EU Knowledge Hub’s scholarly footprint, while reinforcing ELIAMEP’s international presence and its capacity for shaping effective and data-driven prevention policies at the European level.
