The Turkey Programme of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) invites the submission of paper abstracts for original policy analyses addressing key issues in Turkey’s domestic affairs, foreign relations, and socio-political dynamics.

We are seeking proposals from students, researchers, analysts, and policy professionals with experience or academic interest in relevant fields (e.g. political science, international relations, sociology, economics, law, etc.). A minimum of a Master’s degree is required.

Up to ten (10) abstracts will be selected for development into full policy papers.

What We Offer

  • Monetary Prize:
    One (1) paper will be awarded with publication, a monetary prize of [€500] and may be presented in an online seminar or roundtable.
  • Publication Opportunity:
    Up to three (3) papers will be selected for publication by ELIAMEP (subject to editorial review and revision) and may be presented in an online seminar or roundtable.

We welcome abstracts addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • domestic politics: governance, elections, institutions, judiciary
  • foreign policy & strategic relations: EU–Turkey, Greece–Turkey, NATO, U.S., MENA, as well as Turkey–Russia relations, Turkey–Africa relations, and Turkey’s engagement with international sanctions and compliance
  • economy and development: inflation, inequality, industrial policy, green transition
  • civil society & media: activism, digital rights, journalism, freedom of expression
  • identity, religion, and education: nationalism, secularism, minorities, curriculum politics
  • environment & energy: climate policy, hydro-politics, energy strategy
  • technology & digital governance: AI policy, cyber-regulation, surveillance

We particularly encourage submissions that offer comparative, regional, or interdisciplinary perspectives.

  1. Abstract Submission
  • Length: max 300 words
  • Language: English
  • Include: Full name, institutional affiliation (if any), 100-word bio, and contact info
  1. Selection Phase
  • Up to 10 abstracts will be selected and invited to submit full policy papers (3,000–5,000 words)
  1. Final Phase
  • One winner will receive the monetary award, publication and presentation via the Turkey Programme
  • Three papers will be selected for publication and presentation via the Turkey Programme
