Anna Triandafyllidou, Michaela Maroufof (with the collaboration of Marina Nikolova), “Immigration towards Greece at the Eve of the 21st Century. A Critical Assessment“, ELIAMEP, Athens, June 2008
This report provides for an overview of the migration phenomenon in Greece during the past 15 years. It looks at data and trends as regards immigrant flows and stocks, including co-ethnic populations and irregular migrants. It discusses the evolution of Greek migration policy and the main weaknesses of the dominant restrictive approach to economic migration in Greece. It looks also more closely to the problems of implementation of migration policy. Last but not least we survey the positions of the main political parties and trade unions with a view to putting the migration policies into their political and social context.
