Constantine Capsaskis

Research Fellow, Mediterranean Programme

Constantine Capsaskis is a political analyst, historian, and journalist focused on diplomatic and defense developments, including energy and maritime topics, in the Eastern Mediterranean.

He teaches a course on the history and present of the region at the College Year in Athens Study Abroad Programme for English-speaking university students. At the same time, he edits and produces the weekly English-language newsletter of major Greek daily newspaper, Kathimerini.

Constantine completed his PhD in History at the University of Cambridge, researching the British Secret Services in Greece from 1940 to 1947, as part of wider British military and diplomatic planning in the region. He also holds an MPhil in Modern History from Cambridge, an MA in History from the University of St. Andrews, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Law.

In 2024, he published a Greek-language book based on his research (Alexandria Publications).

His research focus is on the continued international geostrategic importance of the Eastern Mediterranean, particularly the resurgence of Great Power Politics in the region, as well as bilateral relations and multilateral efforts between the Mediterranean states.
