On 26 April, the European Programme ‘Ariane Contellis’ of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) is holding a public Agora event on “European Elections 2024: Participation, Empowerment and Empowerment”. The event is part of the EPACE-EU (Enhancing Public Awareness and Civic Engagement in the EU) programme.

On 9 June, the elections for the political actors who will represent Greece in the European Parliament will take place. The electoral process will determine the course the Union has to follow over the next 5 years. Nevertheless, in recent times a trend of apathy has been detected -in terms of electoral participation- which, unfortunately, is expected to be confirmed in the forthcoming European elections. This Event attempts a discourse concerning the reasons why citizens push towards abstention and to look for ways to enhance their participation.

The event will bring together 35 to 40 citizens of different ages, professional backgrounds and educational levels to express their views on the EU and the relevant elections.

The event will be held in Greek and is by personal invitation.

The project is co-funded by the EU.
