George Dikaios, ELIAMEP Senior Research Fellow,  participated as a moderator in the panel “Maritime Cooperation – Safeguarding the Blue Economy and Marine Biodiversity”, in the framework of the 8th Circle the Med – The Mediterranean Forum held on June 4th, 2025 in Athens.
The panel included, among others, the Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy Vassilis Kikilias, the Deputy Minister of Fisheries of Malta Dr Alicia Bugeja Said, Dr Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou, Chairwoman of the Environment Committee of the Hellenic Parliament, as well as high-ranking officials of international organisations such as UNEP, IMO and Oceans 2050.
The discussion focused on the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation for the protection of the marine environment and the use of the seas as pillars of sustainable development – from shipping and fisheries to maritime transport security and climate change.
