Panayotis Tsakonas spoke at a discussion organized by the Institute of International Economic Relations (IDOS / IIER) on April 22, titled “Greece and the Management of the Euro-Atlantic Rift.”

In his remarks, Prof. Tsakonas pointed out that Greek foreign policy is still trying to understand the dilemmas posed by global and regional developments, emphasizing that even if the current rift between the U.S. and Europe is bridged, relations will not return to where they were before. He considered that the most likely development is the formation of a “European NATO” and noted the need for the EU to make use as soon as possible of the reports by former Italian Prime Ministers Draghi and Letta, and especially that of former Finnish President Niinistö, which concerns European defense.
