Τhe 2nd Economic Imerisia Summit took place on 8 May, 2026 in Athens, in collaboration with OPEN TV and the Greek newspaper ETHNOS, under the central theme “The World in Transition: Greece, the New Geoeconomics, and the Day After for Investments”. The conference was held under the auspices of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Development of Greece, the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP), and the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), with the support of the Region of Attica. Opening remarks were delivered by the Director of Imersia, Yannis Foskolos, and the Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, while the keynote opening address was given by the President of the Eurogroup and Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
Dr. Elena Lazarou, Director General of ELIAMEP, participated as a speaker in the session titled “Eastern Mediterranean: Greece’s Role in a Changing World”, alongside Evangelos Venizelos, former Deputy Prime Minister, former PASOK President and Emeritus Professor of Constitutional Law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; Dimitris Avramopoulos, former European Commissioner; former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece; and George Prevelakis, Emeritus Professor of Geopolitics at Panthéon-Sorbonne University. The discussion was moderated by Effie Koutsokosta, diplomatic correspondent at OPEN TV and the newspaper ETHNOS. The session highlighted Greece’s geopolitical role in the region, as well as the challenges and opportunities emerging in an increasingly unstable international environment.
Imersia Summit brought together senior government officials, institutional stakeholders, and leading representatives of the business community. Discussions focused on the emerging geoeconomic landscape following the recent developments in the Middle East, Greece’s position in a shifting geopolitical environment, the evolving energy landscape, and the critical challenge of attracting investments and transforming the country’s productive model.
