The edited volume “International Political Economy in the 21st Century: From Globalization to Geoeconomics” has been published by Papazisis Publications. The volume is edited by Dimitris Katsikas, Associate Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Senior Research Fellow at ELIAMEP, and President of the Board of Directors of EDEPO.

Our world is being shaken by multiple and profound crises, as well as significant political, economic, social, and technological transformations. In the emerging environment, power once again asserts its dominant role within an anarchic international system, particularly as balances shift and interests collide. The economy is increasingly used as a tool to achieve broader political objectives, while politics is often turned into a means of securing economic gains. The international economic system is gradually transitioning from the era of hyper-globalization to that of geoeconomics. This transition, however, is neither easy nor likely to be short—or even complete.

This edited volume, which brings together 28 academics and researchers across 23 chapters, aims to provide an overview and a well-documented analysis of the transformations of the international economic system, as well as the challenges they pose for economic development and cooperation.
