The United States has not gone into hibernation

Ino Afentouli argues that, far from falling into a state of “hibernation”, the the United States is acting with a vigour rooted in deeper structural and strategic changes. This American hyperactivity cannot be explained in terms of Donald Trump’s personality alone, seeing as it reflects long-standing geopolitical concerns, domestic social pressures, and the permanent need to maintain its power globally.  This is a dynamic that extends beyond individuals and circumstances to shed light on the US’s ongoing search for a role and influence in a rapidly changing world.
