FGV Europe, the European international office of the leading Brazilian think tank, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), organized a Colloquium at the European Parliament on Thursday, 16 October 2025, under the theme: “Brazil – European Union: Common Challenges and Prospects”. The Colloquium opened with speeches by Ana Miguel Pedro, Member of the European Parliament and Member of the EU-Brazil Delegation, and Cesar Cunha Campos, General Director of FGV Europe.

In her current capacity as Director General of ELIAMEP, and previously as Director of the Center for International Relations at FGV, Dr. Lazarou accepted the invitation of of the President of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), Prof. Dr. Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, and the General Director of FGV Europe, Prof. Dr. Cesar Cunha Campos, to participate as as a distinguished speaker in Session “Global Security in Times of Uncertainty”. The panel brought together think tanks from Europe and Brazil, to debate the major global security challenges, highlighting convergences and divergences in threat perceptions. In her speech, Dr. Lazarou focused on significant and timely issues concerning foreign policy, security, and transatlantic relations.

The panel also included Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive of the European Policy Centre (EPC), and Guntram Wolff, Professor of Economics at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Senior Fellow at Bruegel.
