Alexandros Diakopoulos

Vice Admiral (Retd); Executive Chairman, Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI); former National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister

Vice Admiral (ret.) Alexandros Diakopoulos is the Executive Chairman of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI), a Member of the Council of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), and the former National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Greece.

A graduate of the Hellenic Naval Academy, he holds an MC/MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Master’s in Defense and Geostrategy from Paris II Panthéon-Assas. During his distinguished career in the Hellenic Navy, he held several high-ranking positions, including Commandant of the National Defense College and Naval Attaché in Ankara. In 2019, he was appointed as Greece’s first National Security Adviser, establishing the office from its inception.

Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of ELIAMEP and as Vice President of the War Museum of Greece.

A frequent contributor to the international and Greek press on geostrategy and the defense industrial base, he is also the co-author of the book “Middle East 1945–2025: The Tyranny of Expectations and Beliefs”.
