The Lennart Meri Conference 2026, which is held annually by the International Centre for Defence and Security (ICDS), brought together global leaders, diplomats, defence experts and analysts to Tallinn, Estonia, from 15-17 May to debate Europe’s security, Ukraine’s future and the next chapter of transatlantic co-operation.

Last day’s discussions included nuclear deterrence, democratic resilience, information warfare and Europe’s grand strategy. One of the closing highlights was a fireside chat with Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative/Vice-President, in conversation with Edward Luce, US National Editor and columnist at the Financial Times, followed by a final panel on “The Master Plan: Europe’s Grand Strategy”. Dr. Elena Lazarou, Director General of ELIAMEP, participated in this closing panel discussion. In her intervention, ELIAMEP’s Director General stressed the need to bridge the gap between the diverging threat perceptions in Europe’s East and South as well as the imperative to work with like-minded partners. The video of the discussion is available here.
