In early March 2026, an event titled “Climate Diplomacy: What’s wrong and what’s next” was held at Leiden University in the Netherlands at the Spui Campus in The Hague, as part of the project ‘Climatization of EU Policies: The Case of Maritime Transport’ (funded by the EU / Marie Curie Actions). The event was organised and chaired by Dr George Dikaios (Marie Curie Fellow, Leiden University & Senior Research Fellow, ELIAMEP). The panelists were: Professor Emmanuela Doussis (Chair-holder of the UNESCO Chair for Climate Diplomacy, NKUA & Senior Policy Advisor, ELIAMEP), Assistant Professor Christina Toenshoff (Leiden University), Dr George Amanatidis (ex-Senior Official for Climate Change at the European Commission and Parliament) and Evangelia Pouli (Assistant Registrar, Merchant Shipping Directorate, Transport Malta).
